- Included in the titles promoted in the catalog were works by Louisa May Alcott and Helen Hunt Jackson, still popular today. When this catalog was issued, Jackson's Ramona had already been reviewed by The Atlantic Monthly and Harper's Bazaar. Laudatory snippets were culled from critical reviews as well as from unsolicited letters from anonymous readers. The index reveals that many publisher and bookseller genres in common use by booksellers were already established. Among the genres listed are Art, Biography, Essay, History, Illustrated books, Juvenile works, Novels, Poetry, Religious literature, and Short stories
