- Summary expansion
- The grape harvest becomes, for Tansillo, the site of a Saturnal, in which the vintagers exchange bawdy jests and double entendres with passersby, including gentlemen and noble ladies. A grape-picker, seated in a tree, offers an invitation to love and voluptuousness to all the women passing by. The poet warns women not to let their youth pass by uselessly, and instructs them on the best way of arriving at the "soave fin d'amore", praising the herb mint which not only drives away witches but is also a restorative in every way. Following the Council of Trent, the poem was placed on the Index for its indecency
