• Illustrated summary of the efforts of the Downtown Business Men's Association of Los Angeles during the first nine months of 1943 to ensure that their operations were in accord with wartime economy, and to offer the full benefit of their sales and merchandising capabilities to war-related civilian activities. Covers areas of newspaper advertising, window displays, interior displays, posters in stores, war bond and stamp booths, street decorations, outdoor advertising, radio programs, employees' rallies, war salvage drives, civilian activities, and the creation of the "Health for Victory Club", and the Third Army--in which retail employees were sworn in as privates, given a quota of $200 in bond sales, and promised promotion in rank in accordance with amount of bonds sold
