Biographical or historical data

Patrick Allan Grant was born in Perry, Calif. in 1906, and attended Montana State University and UCLA (1924-26). He received an honorary doctorate in agriculture from Montana State University in 1979. During the time he was president of the California State Board of Agriculture, Allan Grant served as an ex-officio member of the University of California Board of Regents. Grant's tenure ended after the November 1974 election, when California voters approved ballot Proposition 4, which eliminated ex-officio regent seats. Grant, a county, state, and national leader of the American Farm Bureau Federation, served on various committees during his regency, including Audit, Grounds and Buildings, and Special Projects Committees.
