Bound in full black pebbled morocco by the Sydney (Australia) master binder-designer of the 1920s and 1930s Wal (Walter) Taylor, whose stamp appears on lower edge of inside rear board; both boards blind-ruled in a grid pattern of 24 squares and rectangles, and small blind-stamped circles, suggesting the panels and nailheads of a medieval castle door; small armorial shield in lower right panel; black morocco doublures with blind-stamped corner-pieces; spine is brown morocco stamped in gilt with spine title "Ulysses. James Joyce;" blue endpapers; edges untrimmed.

Bound in half blue morocco and blue marbled paper by Bayntun, whose inkstamp "Bayntun Binder Bath Eng." appears at head of verso of front endleaf; original publisher's blue front and rear wrappers printed in white are bound in at end.
