  • "Osservazioni di Niccolò Pussino, sopra la pittura": p. 54-55 at end
  • According to Steinitz (p. 165-168), this is the 2nd ed. published in Italy; the 1st ed. of 1723 by the same publisher is known in only two copies. However, later research indicates that this ed. may indeed be the 1st and that the "1723 ed." was probably a "sophisticated copy" (or, forgery) made by Ricciardo himself, using leftover sheets from his 1733 ed., then back-dating it to 1723.   • Spec. Coll. Belt copy 1: Half green-dyed pebbled calf, marbled paper over boards. Ex libris plates: "Alfred Cock, of the Middle Temple" on paste-down; "Curt & Lilli Sobernheim" on free endleaf. Gift, Elmer Belt, 1961.
  • Spec. Coll. Belt copy 2: Large paper copy (45 x 29 cm.) On t.p., the information for the Naples printer has been tampered with; having been scratched out and replaced with "Franc. Ricciardo"; also the Paris date has been clumsily altered to look like "M. DC. CI", though it shows clearly that it really says M.DC.LI. Vellum (with black follicles not completely removed) over boards. Presentation copy, with large a plate: "The Burlington Fine Arts Club Library [in letterpress] Presented by A.B. Bence-Jones Esqr. 4th December 1894 [inscribed by hand]" on paste-down.A folded handwritten note inside is addressed to "the Committee" and describes the bibliographical nature of this gift, saying that this large paper copy is quite rare and that, of the two known by the anonymous notator, "this is in far superior condition to either". Gift, Elmer Belt, 1961.
