  • Text illustrated with 14 color engravings printed using the Baxter process (of which Kronheim was a licensee), in which a metal intaglio plate is used as a base on to which a series of colors is added from wood blocks. Kronheim's version of the "Baxter" process consisted of printing 8-16 colors from zinc or copper plates on top of the steel key plate impression; see Ruari McLean, Victorian book design & colour printing (London: Faber & Faber, 1963), pages 140, 143, in which he cites R.M. Burch, Colour printing (2nd edition, 1910)
