Copy 2 has ownership inscription, dated Dec. 5th, 1923, on front endleaf "M.E. Lowes Dickinson," probably Mary Ellen Lowes Dickinson Brownlow, niece of Goldsworthy "Goldie" Lowes Dickinson (1862-1932), political scientist and philosopher who spent much of his life at Cambridge and was closely associated with the "Bloomsbury Group", and wife of Celadon Charles Sutherland Brownlow (married 1926). Gift of the Estate of James Davis, 2001.
