Sixteenth-century master drawing in red chalk of the head of a courtier on rear endpaper. Eighteenth-century ownership inscriptions on front pastedown of John Shipton, possibly the John Shipton who was steward of anatomy at the Barber Surgeons Company in 1704 (cf. Windows of the Soul: The Art of Physiognomy in European Culture 1470-1780 / Martin Porter. Oxford Univ. Press, 2005, p. 112-113); and Richard Clark, Chamberlain of London, dated 1759; Clark's armorial bookplate below; armorial ex-libris of Albert Ehrman on front endpaper, with his monogram inkstamp and date 1899 on rear pastedown, which also contains white-on-blue printed bookplate of the Bibliotheca Broxbourniana of John P.W.
