Summary expansion
When the Biltmore Hotel, located at 515 South Olive was completely renovated in 1977, John Follis worked with owners Phyllis Lambert and Gene Summers to create a new corporate identification and graphic program. This convention brochure was produced as part of that effort. Booklet contains large and small color photographs of the architectural details, including full-page color photographs of the Rendezvous Court, decorated with a Moorish Revival styled plaster ceiling painted with 24 carat gold accents, two original imported Italian chandeliers from 1923, and a grand Spanish Baroque Revival bronze doorway, featuring a working astrological clock; and the main Galleria, whose frescoed mural ceilings were hand painted in 1922 by Italian artist Giovanni Smeraldi, known for his work in the Vatican and the White House. There are also photographs of the hotel rooms, each one reflecting tones and shades of one of the six colors of the rainbow; floor plan of the hotel; descriptions, photos, and plans of each of seven ballrooms and meeting rooms; and map of the hotel's location in downtown Los Angeles
