Raymu[n]di Palasini in quintum librum Boetij de consolatione philosophie circa p[ru]dentia & liberu[m] arbitriu[m]" as described by Gültlingen, who give extent as [110] leaves. Bound in dark brown leather over boards; spine rebacked; center panel features a rolled string of acorn ornaments, enclosed within blind-tooled border of leaves and flowers; lower cover decorated with blind-tooled portrait of Boethius [?] standing beneath an arch; traces of one metal clasp along fore-edges; gold-stamped spine title "Boethius. De consolatione philosophiae;" new cream endpapers. Book label on front pastedown: "From the library of William Morris, Kelmscott House, Hammersmith." Ownership inscription on front endleaf of Alexander Boswell, Lord Auchinleck, of Edinburgh: "Alex'r Boswel, Edinb. 1756." In beige cloth and brown leather clamshell box, lined with brown felt; gold-stamped spine title; in modern manila phase box.
