  • First ed. of Colloreto's account of the origins and consequences of the bitter feud between his family and the Savorgnani. When Colloreto's father, Giovan Battista Colloreto, was killed by assassins in Venice in 1549, he took revenge by fatally wounding Antonio di Bernardino Savorgnan in a duel. As a result, Colloreto was banished from Venetian territory, and Niccolo and Federico Savorgnan implicated in the murder. For many years afterwards, the two families continued to exchange accusations and challenges
