  • Original German (Cologne?) blind-stamped calf over wooden boards, rebacked. Bevelled boards. Catches remain and leather finger tabs. Pastedowns from a 14th c. vellum manuscript. First initial illuminated in blue and gold; rubricated throughout. Capitals supplied in red and blue.
  • Provenance: Belonged to the Carthusian Priory of St. Barbara in Cologne and given to it by Brother Gotfried Steck of Beeck. (Upper free endpaper: Liber domus sancte Barbare in Colonia ordinis Cartusiensiem, quem eidem assignavit cum nonnullis aliis pluribus ac diversis opusculis ac voluminibus frater Gotfridus Steck cognominatus de Beeck, dicte domus monachus, professus anno domini 1478 die mercurii 13 mensis maij, prout oretur pro illo propter deum. Qui vixit adhuc in humanis anno domini 1518.) After the dissolution, belonged to the Gymnasial-Bibliothek of Cologne; ink stamp, a2.
