  • Bongi classifies the Ragionamenti as a 1566 imprint (II:225), and notes that some copies are dated 1567; see also II:262
  • Each of the seven penitential psalms of David is presented in Italian and Latin, accompanied by an explanation or "ragionamenti" for each psalm written in the form of a dialogue between Tullio and Cesare, and a paraphrase
  • The section containing paraphrases of each of the seven psalms (pages numbered 113-134) has special title page, with title "Parafrasi del medesimo reuerendo padre F. Bonauentura Gonzaghi da Reggio ne' sette salmi penitentiali di Dauìd."
  • Signatures: *-3*4 A-Q4 R6
  • Woodcuts: Giolito phoenix device on title page within an oval medallion, featuring phoenix standing amidst flames spouting from the top of an urn bearing initials "GGF," facing left towards the sun; ribbon bears motto "Semper eadem;" another version of the device on last page; historiated white initials; head- and tail-pieces; each of the seven psalms and the seven paraphrases illustrated with a woodcut vignette
  • Text of the "Ragionamenti" printed in roman type; text of the Penitential Psalms in Italian verse printed in large italic type, with parallel Latin translation in small roman type
  • Gonzaga's dedicatory preface is addressed to Domenico Paruta, abbot of the Benedictine monastery San Gregorio in Venice, and dated March 25, 1566 in Venice
