  • Woodcuts: Toressanus' device in red on leaf [rum]5b (circle divided into thirds, surmounted by a double cross), one of the earliest of numerous imitations of the Jenson firm's famous printers mark

  • Spec. Coll. copy: contemporary Spanish blind-stamped dark brown calf over wooden boards, pair of brass fore-edge catches lacking clasps, pastedowns from two different 14th c. manuscripts in vellum, head and tail of spine restored. The binding is possibly a remboîtage. Marginal repairs on a1-a4 and a6, upper margin of last two leaves repaired. Waterstaining throughout. Traces of removed bookplate on first leaf, modern leather lettering-piece, with red-stamped spine title "Thomas de Aquino. Summa theologiae. Venedig 1483." Large opening initial decorated in red and blue with red and green filigree infill. Rubricated throughout. Contemporary Spanish ownership inscription at end: "Este libro ... Fray Blasou [que] esta a la disposicio del provincial de Santiago." Later Spanish collational notes and Latin marginalia. Embossed ownership stamp on first leaf of The Cloisters, New York, Durrell Sumner Parker Collection. Purchased for UCLA by Joseph Felcone from the Nakles Collection of Incunabula, Christie's sale, 17 April, 2000, item 113.
