Summary
Posthumously published first edition of commentary on Ptolemy, Cicero and Pliny by Giorgio Valla, one of the leading Hellenists at Venice, scholarly advisor to Aldus, teacher of many in the Aldine circle (Bembo, Gabriel, Leoniceno, Alessandro Benedetti), and one of a relatively small number of Italian humanists to concern themselves with ancient scientific texts.

Summary expansion
Valla's library of Greek scientific manuscripts was well-known, and was purchased after his death by Alberto Carpi. The texts most likely derive from lectures Valla gave as public lecturer in the humanities at Venice, a post he assumed in 1485
