Summary
According to Schreiber, "Henri Estienne's monumental edition of Plato, the first complete edition...remained the indispensable instrument of Platonic studies; to this day its pagination is universally accepted as the standard system of reference to the text of Plato."

Summary expansion
Estienne collated earlier printed editions--the 1513 Aldine, the 1534 and 1556 Basel editions, and for the Laws, the 1531 Louvain edition--as well as manuscripts to produce the Greek text. He replaced the old Ficino translation with a newly commissioned one by Jean de Serres, which he then went on to correct and revise himself
