  • Half-title: Places: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
  • "Places of Reverence was conceived to peer into a realm where life and faith are integrated in the world-at-large. the philosophical essay printed on the next pages represents my view into this world-and more importantly how it has taught me. I have made photographs in various parts of Africa to document and share that whis is otherwise accessible but incompletely through language alone. These places, so deeply rooted in time, are fragile in our moment today. The images are arranged into sequence according to the Alphabet. This new juxtaposition lands at the meeting of abstract and concrete-"a thing of its own." Each image is accompanied by prose based on conversations made along the way: insights were shared by Abasse Ndiaye, Sokhna Diobe Fall and her extended family, Shaykh Ndigeul Borom Khelcom, Zelalem Haile Michael, Aba Geda, Aliou and Toure, Sileshi, Kolekoro, Hassana Mahee, Shek Kedir, Mouhammed, Pape Seye, Addis Alem, Big Ike and Little Ike, Bite, Ousmane, Hamed Kane, Jali Saikhou Jobarteh, Tom-and a host of generous others."--page [1]
