  • The printing of this book began in Riva di Trento where Jacob Marcaria had established the first Hebrew press in 1558, under the patronage of Cardinal Cristoforo Madruzzo (1512-1578). However, the illiberal attitude of the cardinal's nephew and successor led to an abrupt end of Hebrew printing in Riva di Trento in 1562. Marcaria's proofreader took some of the unfinished works to Venice and had them printed there. The first 58 text leaves of the present volume were printed in Riva di Trento, while the title page and remaining leaves were printed in Venice at the press of Giorgio de Cavalli, with the assistance of Vittorio Eliano
