Summary expansion
Giustinian surveyed the whole of Venetian history from the earliest times to his own day; he begins by commenting on those who covered the same ground: Andrea Dandolo, Marco Antonio Sabellico, and Pietro Bembo. The history includes cultural as well as political events, such as the revival of Greek letters, which is mentioned in relation to the donation of Bessarion's library (pages 292-295), and the work of the humanist Ermolao Barbaro (pages 339-340)
