Presentation copy inscribed by the author to Maria Edgeworth: "Miss Edgeworth from Fredk. de Roos, Dec. 30th, 1827." The five-millionth volume of the UCLA Library, given by Friends of the UCLA Library on May 21, 1983, one hundred years from the date that F.V. Hayden's "Twelfth annual report of the United States geological and geographical survey of the territories: a report of progress of the exploration in Wyoming and Idaho for the year 1878" was entered as the first title in the first accession record, marking the true beginning of the UCLA Library. See UCLA Librarian 36, no. 6 (June 1983): 42.
