Summary expansion
The second of only three books issued from the press of the Alexandrine Antonius Battibovis--all Latin poetry, all prepared and annotated by contemporary editors, and all issued within six months of each other--this work illuminates the taste of the north Italian reading public, among whom there was virtually no demand for classical Latin poetry. Each of the six extant books of the Fasti treats one month, beginning with January, providing astronomical notes, religious festivals, rites, and mythological origins
