The hills in the background are dotted with oil wells. Some of the buildings highlighted include the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge No. 888, (chartered in 1904), the Buffum's "Specialty Store" department store, Marine Commercial & Savings Bank, First National Bank, the De-Nae Cafeteria, Green Crown Drug Company, Kennebec Cafeteria, Cliff Dwellers Inn, and Mission Cafeteria along Ocean Avenue, and the State Theater and Hoyt's Theater.
