Summary
A volume consisting mostly of photographs 4 to a page (equaling 200 total), mounted on photographic paper. The pictures are of places in California from the upper northeast, down and across through its mountains to San Francisco. Most scenes are of places reached from railroad stops along the way (with the Central Pacific Railroad, or C.P.R.R., being specifically identified in several views): Tahoe, Yosemite Valley, Sonoma County, and 8 of mid-town San Francisco. They also include views of redwoods (both standing and fallen), mountains, rivers, waterfalls, geysers, bridges, tunnels and railroad cars (inside and out), with the final 6 p. (24 photographs) showing mining and miners at work. All photographs have descriptive labels and Houseworth Co. catalog nos., as well as decorative "frames" printed around them
