Biographical or historical data
In 1948, Stanley T. Tomlinson was elected to represent the Thirty-seventh assembly district of the California State Assembly. He served until 1954. He chaired the Committee on Transportation and Commerce and the Joint Committee on Impounded Funds from Tide and Submerged Lands. As a Republican member of the Committee on Elections and Reapportionment, he was instrumental in the historic reapportionment of 1951. He served as Santa Barbara city attorney from 1954 until his retirement in 1972. Tomlinson wed Constance Mills, who regularly accompanied him to Sacramento during his years in the Assembly, in 1935. Constance M. Tomlinson became an active member of the PALS Club, an organization comprised of legislators' wives.
