Marks discusses the political career of his father, Milton Marks, Sr., attending Stanford, military service, law school, practicing law, running for the Assembly in 1952 and later, winning an assembly seat in 1958. He continues with his growing dissent over the Republican Party's conservatism, reapportinment, committee assignments, losing his seat, being appointed municipal judge, running for the State Senate in 1967, serving in the senate, legislative priorities, and becoming a Democrat in 1986. Biographical or historical data
Milton Marks was born July 22, 1920 in San Francisco, Calif. He received his B.A. degree in political science from Stanford Univesity and his law degree from San Francisco Law School in 1949. In 1958 Marks was elected to the Assembly until reapportionment eliminated his district in 1966. Gov. Pat Brown then appointed him to a municipal court judgeship. He served less than 1 year when he successfully ran for a state senate seat that had become available in 1967. Marks left office in 1996 as a result of term limits.
