- Biographical or historical data
- Miguel F. Garcia II, a native of Zacoalco de Torres, Jalisco, Mexico, after graduating from the California State University, Los Angeles, and while attending the Loyola University School of Law, became active in several advocacy groups, including Social Action for Latinos for Unity Development (SALUD), Chicano Law Students Association, and Católicos por la Raza. In 1970 he was a participant in the Mexican-American reapportionment effort known as Chicanos for Fair Representation to affect that decade's reapportionment. Also engaged in litigation before the California Supreme Court in cases arising from police abuse, his arguments have helped to establish legal precedents for victims' rights to restitution and for discovery rights in policy abuse cases.
