Biographical or historical data
Leon Ralph began his political career as an administrative assistant to Speaker of the Assembly Jesse Unruh. He was elected to the California State Assembly from the Fifty-fifth District in 1966 and served until 1976 when he resigned to enter the ministry. Ralph was active on committees, such as Ways and means, Rules Committee, and the Governmental Organization Committee and many subcommittees concerning the problems confronting minorities. Primary interest was minority and affirmative action problems.
