Biographical or historical data
J. Anthony (Tony) Kline was born in 1938 in New York; he graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1960 and received an M.A. from Cornell in 1962 and a law degree from Yale in 1965. Kline served as Legal Affairs Secretary for Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. from 1975 to 1980. He served as a judge on the San Francisco Superior Court from 1980 to 1982 and has been the presiding justice on the California Court of Appeals, First District, since 1982.
