Biographical or historical data
Alvin C. Weingand, a Montecito and Santa Barbara businessman and civic leader, in 1962 was elected to the California State Senate from the Thirty-first District in a special election after the death of incumbent John J. Hollister, Jr., of Santa Barbara. Weingand served there for four years, where he was active on such committees as Business & Commerce and Labor & Welfare. He sponsored legislation dealing with family planning, banking, lobbying, and a code of ethics for California legislators.
