Biographical or historical data
In 1953 Allen Miller was elected, in a special election, to the California State Assembly, representing the Forty-first Assembly District in the San Fernando Valley. He had earlier been appointed, in 1939 during the Culbert Olson administration, State Registrar of Contractors. Miller served in the assembly until 1959, chaired the Rules Committee, and was a member of the "Young Turks," a bipartisan reform group in the assembly to reform legislative practices. In 1959 Miller was appointed by Governor Edmund G. Brown, Sr. to the Superior Court bench in Los Angeles County. He retired from the bench and politics in 1973.
