Coll. copy: contemporary pigskin over bevelled wooden boards, featuring two elaborately blind-stamped concentric borders: the outer border contains a chain of wheat or papyrus sheaves, which also appear in the center panel, while the inner border holds nine small rectangular portrait panels of figures with haloes--one holding a harp, one a book, another a sword--possibly saints, apostles, or Church fathers; remnants of two pairs of brass and leather clasps and closures. Ownership inscription on front pastedown of l'abbé Jules Caron, curate of Autreville, with purchase note ("acheté à Rome"), dated 1864; ownership inscription on t.p. of the Jesuit College of Ingolstadt, dated 1578; bookstamp "Libreria Muzi" below imprint, possibly from the library of bishop Giovanni Muzi (1772-1849). In modern beige cloth and white leather clamshell box with velcro closure; gold-stamped box title "Conti. Mythologiae." Purchase, E.K. Schreiber, 1988.
