Summary expansion
The six panels on the "recto" of the brochure contain description of the train ride which begins at the Pacific Electric Railway station at Sixth and Main Streets in Los Angeles, and continues through the Oak Knoll section of Pasadena, Altadena, and Rubio Canyon to the foot of the great Incline. Passengers ride the incline railway to Echo Mountain, where they change cars for a scenic ride of three and one-half miles to the Mt. Lowe Taven and Cottages. The Tavern is a Swiss-style hotel, with a six-room "bungalow" and 40 smaller cottages with complete hotel service. The brochure suggests an optimal stay of one week. Six panels on "verso" contain a color birdseye drawing of Mt. Lowe by W.H. Bull (panels 1-2); hotel rates and general information (panel 3); Mt. Lowe train schedule, with color illustration of the great stone fireplace in the Tavern (panel 4); and the two color illustrated covers by Bull (panels 5-6)
