Summary expansion
Michelangelo records that on that date, he traveled from Florence to San Miniato al Tedesco, a medieval Tuscan town halfway between Florence and Pisa, to talk to Pope Clement VII who was en route to Nice at the time. Michelangelo was in Florence at work on the Medici Chapel, a project which he was never able to complete, due to his permanent removal to Rome a year later, in 1534. Some scholars suggest that during this meeting with Pope Clement, Michelangelo may have discussed the commission for the Last Judgment, his great fresco on the altar wall of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. Michelangelo also notes that on the same day, Brother Sebastiano of Piombo left a horse for him
