Coll. copy 1: contemporary Northern European binding of blind-stamped paneled calf over thick (3/5") beveled boards; rebacked; traces of two pairs of metal clasps along fore-edges of covers. Bookplate on front pastedown of George Venables-Vernon, 2nd Baron Vernon, featuring interlaced "V"s beneath a crown, and his motto "Vernon semper viret." . In modern dark brown cloth phase box and matching brown leather and marbled paper slipcase; gold-stamped spine title "Martial. Epigrammata libri XIII." Purchase, A. Sokol, 1984.
  • Spec. Coll. copy 2: large initials hand-colored in red, green, yellow, blue, and pink; smaller initials hand colored in red. Bound in 18th-century vellum boards with manuscript spine title. Large royal engraved armorial bookplate on front pastedown, featuring two lions rampant holding a coat of arms surmounted by a crown. Purchase, James and Devon Gray Booksellers, 1993.
