Coll. copy 1: Bound in 19th-century crushed green levant morocco, signed "Duru 1846" by Parisian binder, Hippolyte Duru in upper corner of verso of front endpaper; blind fillets; gold-stamped spine title "Martialis epigrammata. Lugduni 1522"; inner gilt dentelles; all edges gilt; marbled endpapers; red silk bookmark. Verso of front endpaper contains small gold-leaf armorial book label of Charles-Alexandre, marquis de Ganay, bearing his double-headed eagle in black (detached, now in mylar sleeve, laid in); to the right is the gilt-on-aqua armorial bookplate on verso of front endpaper of Joachim Gomez de la Cortina, marqués de Morante; large illustrated bookplate on front pastedown of James P.R. Lyell; below is small white-on-gray bookplate, monogrammed AGT, of Alan G. Thomas. Purchase, Bernard Quaritch, from the Alan G. Thomas sale at Sotheby's, June 21, 1993, lot 127.
  • Spec. Coll. copy 2: Nineteenth-century quarter binding of vellum and buff paper boards; gold-stamped black leather spine labels, with spine title on upper one, "Martialis Epigramata", and imprint "Lugduni Trot. 1526" below (with last two digits of year scraped off). Former owner identified as Antonio Valsecchi by his ms. shelf-marks. Purchase, Carlo Alberto Chiesa, 1994.
