Summary expansion
Includes the Office of the Virgin, lauds, penitential psalms, litany of saints, services for Holy Week, hymns, and prayers for Sundays, and saints' days. The last section contains the actual ritual of flagellation, with instructions for flagellation, chants and responses. According to this special ritual, the flagellants did not simply whip themselves day and night, but organized show at set times in public places of the towns they visited. Text is unique in its use of Italian and Latin, and choice of hymns included. Cf. P.L. Meloni discusses the Company at Spoleto in his "Topografia, diffusione e aspetti delle Confraternite dei Disciplinati," in Resultati e prospettive della ricerca sul movimento dei Disciplinati ...Perugia : Arte Grafiche Citta di Castello, 1972, p. 15-98
