Summary expansion
Gamucci's guide is notable for the new information he added to that supplied by Fulvio's Antiquitates Urbis, his inclusion of the first notable series of views illustrating a guidebook, and for the originality of his discussion of the Villa Giulia, which suggests a firsthand acquaintance with Bartolommeo Ammanati. See E.S. De Beer, "The development of the guide-book until the early nineteenth century," in Journal of the British Archaeological Association, 3rd ser., v. XV (1952): 35-46, especially p. 40
