Summary expansion
This mélange of natural philosophy, magic, and medicine discusses the nature of the immortal soul, the resurrection of the human body, whether to sleep with the mouth open or closed, whether to drink little by little or all at once while eating, and the disposition of airy spirits (not those summoned by witchcraft Lemnius notes), among other topics. Lemnius's book of secrets achieved international popularity, with French and German translations published in the 1560s; an English translation appeared in 1658 under the title Secret miracles of nature. The work was banned by the Papal Inquisition, and placed on the Index in 1583
