Summary expansion
The letter contains details of Albani's life; the painter was over 80 years old at the time, and still working actively. The letter may be of particular interest for documenting the association between Albani and Pier Francesco Mola, who, according to the letter, spent "circa duoi anni" living with Albani as a collaborator "stipendiato," not a pupil; see Eric van Schaak, "An unpublished letter by Francesco Albani," Art Bulletin 51, no. 1 (March 1969): 72-74, which includes a complete Italian transcription of the text of the letter, and extensive explanatory footnotes. http://www.jstor.org/stable/pdf/3048589.pdf
