Summary expansion
This is the first edition with woodcut portraits of the artists, and the first to include the lives of artists alive in Vasari's day (Michelangelo had had this exclusive privilege in the 1550 first edition printed by Torrentino). Vasari has also ameliorated the life of Michelangelo in response to Condivi's criticisms, and updated his material generally, including the information he had collected in Venice on his trip there in the summer of 1566
