  • Woodcuts: Giolito phoenix device within ornate cartouche on title page, featuring a phoenix standing amidst flames spouting from a winged orb bearing initials "GGF," and facing left towards the blazing sun; a ribbon bears motto "Semper eadem;" large and small historiated white initials; ornamental head- and tail-pieces; full-page portrait medallion of Lodovico Dolce on page [16], incorporating his coat of arms; the "Argomento" of each canto has ornate woodcut borders; 25 woodcut vignettes, each illustrating a scene from one of the 25 cantos, printed within pictorial borders, some incorporating implements of war, city views (signed "P"), and a reclining warrior, and others composed of scrollwork, cherubs, and grotesques
  • The "Argomenti" printed in italic type, the "Allegorie" in roman type; text of poem printed in italic type, arranged in stanzas of 8-lines, in two columns
  • Dedication by Giovanni Giolito de' Ferrari, addressed to Francesco Maria della Rovere, prince of Urbino, is dated April 1, 1572 in Venice
  • Includes index arranged in two ruled columns
