  • First edition
  • The first half of Pinocchio was originally published serially in the children's magazine Giornale dei bambini from 1881 to 1883, and ended with Pinocchio being hanged for his moral failings. Collodi added the second half at the urging of his publisher, giving the story a happy ending as the Blue Fairy rescues Pinocchio and helps him to become a real boy
  • Red pebble-grained cloth over boards; title blocked in black and gold on upper board; blue and white patterned endpapers; blue patterned fore-edges
