  • One of two editions dated 1501, without the Aldine device on title-page, with unnumbered leaves, and with the colophon printed in italics. Another edition, with the Aldine anchor-and-dolphin device on title-page, numbered leaves, and colophon "Venetiis, in aedibus Aldi et Andreae soceri, mense Augusto, M.D.I." in small roman capitals, was actually printed around 1515. Bookplates of the library at Auchincruive, a Scottish estate owned by the family of Richard Oswald, and his son, Richard Alexander Oswald, with ms. shelf-mark; and Templeton Crocker, on front pastedown and front free endpaper. In matching red morocco slipcase, with gold-stamped case title "Juvenal and Persius. Aldus. 1501."
