Summary expansion
Valeriano first traveled to Venice ca. 1493 with his uncle, Urbano Bolzanio, a Franciscan monk, but also a distinguished scholar and friend of Aldo Manuzio, and member of his Greek academy. Valeriano frequented Venice again between 1500 and 1506, during which time he became friends with a group of young Venetian gentlemen, including Paolo Canal, Trypho Bisanti, Andrea Marone, and Andrea Navagero, and others, most of whom were close associates of Manuzio.
