  • Printed in two columns, in two sizes of gothic type, with the smaller, lighter gothic used for the texts to be read in unison by the congregation; text in black, with 2-line capitals and captions in red
  • Woodcuts: one full-page unshaded Crucifixion on verso of leaf p2 (cf. Essling, p. 299 for reproduction); touched in red by a contemporary hand
  • Three-line capitals rubricated in blue, with one 3-line capital rubricated in red
  • First six unsigned leaves contain calendar, printed in red and black, listing Golden Numbers, Dominical Letters, Roman calendar, and feast days

Coll. copy: mid-16th-century Wittenberg binding from the shop of Georg Kirsten; blind-stamped pigskin over bevelled boards; rolled foliage border featuring several small portrait medallions encloses a central panel stamp of the Nativity scene, with caption "Puer natus est nobis et datus est nobis," on upper board, and baptism of Christ, with caption "Hic est Filius Meus dilectus in quo mihi complacui" on lower board (cf. Gothic and Renaissance bookbindings / E. Ph. Goldschmidt, v. 1, no. 225 for additional information on Kirsten bindings and panel stamps); stamped rosettes at corners of both panel stamps; two pair of engraved brass clasps and catches; edges stained blue. Ownership inscription of Henricus Notspickel, dated 1574, on front pastedown, possibly the author of the ms. notes in Latin throughout, and the ms. chant notation. In modern beige cloth clamshell box with velcro closures; dark brown spine gold-stamped with title "Missale Dominicanum. 1484". Purchase, Bruce McKittrick, 1988.
