  • Spec. Coll. copy 2: large paper copy in 2 v. (21 cm); extra-illustrated, with a later engraved frontispiece portrait of Cicero in each v.; ruled in red throughout. Dark blue morocco over boards, with gilt borders, possibly by Bozerian jeune; gilt edges; inner gilt dentelles; pink silk pastedowns; vellum endpapers; pink silk bookmark. Formerly owned by Samuel Butler, bishop of Lichfield, Edward Clive, 2nd Early of Powis, and Sir Robert Abdy, with his bookplate. Also included is note identifying purchase by A.A. Renouard at Christie & Mason auction in London, March 23-28, 1840, as lot 1225.
