Summary expansion
Black and white photographic reproductions are collaged on each page, having white-on-orange pictorial borders and small drawings printed in orange. The booklet describes the location of the county, its different types of climate and terrain ranging from desert, and Salton Sea, to mountains and hot springs, as well as its amazing agricultural, livestock, and commercial wealth. The country produces important crops of lettuce, melon, and flax, the success of which is assured by an adequate water supply due to completion of the Boulder Dam construction, and the All-American Canal, "now nearing completion" [the canal was completed in 1942]. Also included is statistical data on the dairy industry, raising hogs and poultry, and cultivating alfalfa and maize, and truck gardening. There are pages devoted to describing the advantages of the Imperial Valley for growing grapes, citrus, cantaloupes, and head lettuce. The centerfold is a double-page colored map of the county, with highways shown in black, power lines in red, and water supply in blue
