  • Woodcuts: title within architectural border, adorned with cherubs, swags, and garlands, and featuring, in the center medallion, the figure of a lion guided by reins held in a hand extending from a cloud, with motto "Dies et ingenium"; Bertano's device on verso of last leaf of a flying stork feeding a serpent to a nesting stork; head-pieces; historiated and foliated white initials; six woodcuts (60 x 80 mm.) at the head of each chapter of the "Trionfi", illustrating the successive triumphs of Love, Chastity, Death, Fame, Time, and finally, the supreme victor over all, Divinity. These are the "Valgrisi" blocks from 1560 used in several other editions of this work; cf. Mortimer
