Summary expansion
The author traces the Corrers back to Japhet, third son of Noah, subsequently identifying the Corellis of ancient Rome with the modern family of popes and doges. Written and titled in the style of a genealogical saga, the Corelio attempts to show that the Estes and Corrers have, at times, shared a common history back to Roman times. According to the preface, the work was instigated at the behest of the Este family, perhaps in an effort to improve relations between the two dynasties. Drawing on monumental and numismatic evidence, etymologies, archaeology, and archival documentation, the narrative lists both families' accomplishments at arms, in the Church, and in the arts
